In 2004, Towson University established the Edward V. Badolato Distinguished Speaker Series in Homeland Security. Endowed by IIA founder Edward V. Badolato, the speaker series brings distinguished leaders in the field of homeland security to share their perspective on what needs to be done to combat terrorism and make our nation safer. Col. Badolato, a Towson University alumnus, was an internationally recognized expert in the field of energy and environmental operations, contingency planning and emergency response.
The series provides students and the community with access to top security professionals and opinion makers who influence national security decisions. The lecture series has hosted national speakers such as former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese, III, and, most recently, former White House Homeland Security Advisor Frances Townsend.
